If parts of Windows don't function properly or you have Windows error message pop-ups they can be corrected by following these tips: To narrow down the problem use Event Viewer to see your pc's log of error messages. Click Start/Control Panel/(Performance and Maintenance)/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer. Look through the Errors under Application and System shown in red with a cross or yellow triangle. Some errors are nothing to worry about, so find the error that corresponds to your problem by checking the time it happened and see which errors correspond with the time your computer crashed. If Event Viewer doesn't work then one or more of the required Windows services DCom, MSDTC, COM+, Workstation and Server are probably disabled. Run Computer Management On.bat or turn on these services manually. Doubleclick the Error event and in the Event Properties box make a note of the 'Event ID' (the error code) and 'Source' from the info at the top. Go to www.microsoft.com and search for them, e.g. 4609 EventSystem. Sometimes a solution to the problem will be listed. Also try searching for the whole Description in your favourite search engine incase other people have reported the same problem on a tech support forum and have received a reply solution that works. ©Helptree Services 2010 |
